Photography, to me, is about experiencing. It is not just about freezing a moment, but about actively feeling it first — with all your senses. Only then does the camera come into play.

Photography helps me understand the world better. In my search for images and stories, it forces me to look more closely. My perception becomes sharper. The poetry of everyday life becomes visible. Details suddenly stand out that would otherwise pass by quietly and unnoticed.

As a reportage photographer, I work on independent projects around the world, with a particular focus on Latin America.

After studying political science at Freie Universität Berlin, I completed a journalism traineeship at the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag (sh:z). This was followed by two years as a freelance reporter covering Hamburger SV for various Hamburg newspapers, before wanderlust finally got the better of me and I moved to Buenos Aires in early 2009. Since then, I have reported for German media on sports, politics and society in both words and images.

Then came the return to Germany. After the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, it was back to the roots. I worked as a sports reporter for WELT while also building my podcast “Abenteuer Reportagefotografie”, which focuses on visual storytelling.

Since the end of 2019, I have once again been working independently as a photographer, podcaster and author.
